There is something to overcome. In fact, the very presence of the world ‘overcometh’ implies that there is a battle to be fought. God had given the Israelites the land of Canaan, yet they had to contend with their enemies before they could possess the Promised Land. Deuterronomy 2:24 “Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon: behold, I have given into thine hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land: begin to possess it, and contend with him in battle.”

The enemy will not hand the land over to anyone on a platter of gold. You must contend with him in battle, overcome him, and then possess your possessions.

Anxiety is an enemy. It is a spiritual cancer. No one visit a hospital and describes anxiety as a pain. But it is the root cause of many ailments. It is the feeling of a headache before the head actually begins to pulsate. It is the sleep of a full-grown man, even when the robbers have no plans to attack. You can overcome anxiety!
